“Tokyo Slow” is the philosophy behind tokyobike:
Life is not about the destination, but about the journey itself.

Japan / 2002

The inspiration and ethos for tokyobike begun with the name

In the same way that a mountain bike is suitable for riding across mountains, tokyobike is for pedaling around Tokyo.

We want you to forget the bicycle itself and simply enjoy the ride. That is why we emphasize comfort over speed, and a feeling of lightness at the first turn of the pedal.

All our frames and parts are based on this concept of “TOKYO SLOW” – that is what tokyobike is all about.

tokyobike x Uniqlo

Collaboration | 2011

tokyobike partnered with Uniqlo to create a custom single-speed bicycle for London and New York, celebrating the brand’s 10th anniversary in Soho. The project highlighted Uniqlo’s Japanese heritage and its connection with New York’s creative energy.

The limited edition bike became part of the Soho store experience, symbolizing the shared values of simplicity, design, and everyday life between the two brands.

tokyobike x Ace Hotel

Collaboration | 2015

tokyobike teamed up with Ace Hotel to deliver custom Single-Speed bikes for guests at their London Shoreditch, Downtown Los Angeles, and Chicago locations. These bikes were also offered for purchase in four matte colors—Juniper, Steel Blue, Vermillion, and Gold—and equipped with premium Brooks saddles and Gropes leather grips for a smooth and stylish ride.

More than just practical ride options, these bikes embody Ace’s creative and exploratory spirit— inviting guests to experience their surroundings at a slower pace, with comfort, character, and local flair.

tokyobike x Alexander Girard

Collaboration | 2015

In collaboration with Girard Studio, tokyobike celebrated mid-century design legend Alexander Girard by outfitting a classic single-speed frame with iconic woven stripe palettes originally created for Herman Miller in the 1960s. The result is a strikingly functional canvas for Girard’s bold yet sophisticated design language.

This limited edition bike captures the spirit of Girard’s art—colorful, thoughtful, and timeless—serving both as a daily commuter and a piece of wearable design heritage featured in exhibitions like Tokyo Design Week.

tokyobike x New Balance

Collaboration | 2015

To celebrate the launch of the C-Series in 2015, tokyobike designed two Classic Sports in Matte Mustard and Matte Navy, fitted with the Brooks Cambium Collection. The collaboration reflected both brands’ focus on design, comfort, and everyday lifestyle.

This Limited Edition sold out quickly, but it remains one of our most memorable projects. The partnership showed how cycling and footwear can come together to inspire movement, creativity, and a new way of experiencing the city.

tokyobike x Brooks England

Collaboration | 2016

To mark Brooks’ 150th anniversary, tokyobike created a limited Mini Velo handmade in Japan by master builder Osamu Fukuda. Only ten bikes were produced, each numbered and finished with special Brooks decals, showcasing precision and craftsmanship.

Every frame was crafted by Fukuda himself, making each one unique. The design blends tokyobike’s functional integrity with refined details, honoring Brooks’ heritage and the spirit of Tokyo Slow.

tokyobike x Designer Series

Collaboration | 2017

tokyobike’s Designer Series invited three renowned creatives—Calico Wallpaper, Everything Elevated, and Joe Doucet—to each design a limited edition bicycle that reflects their unique aesthetic voices. Launched in May 2017, each model became a mini narrative on wheels. Joe Doucet’s bike features a split-color scheme (white on one side, grey on the other) with matching dual-tone grips and saddle. Everything Elevated produced a chromated metal finish that strengthens the frame while highlighting minimalist craftsmanship. Calico Wallpaper wrapped their bike in a flowing ombre inspired by their Aurora collection with luxurious leather details.

This series highlights tokyobike’s belief that bicycles can be both functional and artistic, offering a riding experience that’s personal, expressive, and unforgettable.

tokyobike x Miansai

Collaboration | 2017

tokyobike partnered with jewelry brand Miansai to create a custom limited-edition bicycle that reflects a shared passion for detail and design DNA. The bike features copper-plated components, leather saddle and grips, custom cabling, and a bespoke head badge—merging artisanal jewelry craftsmanship with urban cycling elegance.

This collaboration enhances everyday riding with refined touches that feel both luxurious and purposeful. It beautifully balances form and function, appealing to riders who value thoughtful design in every pedal stroke.

tokyobike x Brother Brother

Collaboration | 2021

Brother Brother is a lifestyle shop in the West Adams/MidCity neighborhood of Los Angeles, founded by Greg Okawachi and Gary Indijian. More than just a retail space, it has become a hub that celebrates the cultural diversity and rich history of the area while creating a welcoming place to hang out and connect.

Together with tokyobike, Brother Brother explored their neighborhood by bike, sharing favorite local spots and the unique spirit of their community. This collaboration highlights the simple joy of cycling as a way to experience a city more deeply and connect with the people who shape it.

With its focus on storytelling and community, Brother Brother reflects the same ethos as tokyobike: taking things at a slower pace, enjoying the journey, and finding meaning in everyday rides.

Indonesia Activities

tokyobike first arrived in Indonesia on November 14, 2012, introducing a new way to experience the city. From the start, the focus was never on speed or destination, but on the joy of the ride itself. The philosophy of Tokyo Slow—valuing the process over the outcome—found a natural home here. In Indonesia, this spirit continues through various activities and collaborations that bring people together. Cycling becomes more than movement; it is about enjoying the streets, the community, and the small moments along the way.
